EASY!
What you should do….
1. Give immediate notice to your insurance company of your damages and file the
claim. Most companies have 800 numbers to report a claim directly. Keep track of
all communication by you and your agent regarding the claim. Keeping track is
especially helpful if you have multiple claim adjusters working on your claim.
2. Call TyJax
3. Many of our customers ask us to step in to work directly with their insurance
carrier. We can do that, and are happy to do so for you. You’ll designate Tyjax as
your designated contractor, and let us use our expertise to help your claim go more
smoothly.
4. Together we will document and assess the damage to your property. Use a
video camera or digital camera to document the damage, along with written
documentation. In the following days, you may notice additional damage. Be sure
to document that as well.
5. We may need to make temporary repairs. The insurance company’s usually state
that you are responsible for preventing future damage. For example, put a tarp over a
leaky roof.
6. If you cannot live in your home due to the damage, or if a government order
prevents you from living in the home, most homeowners policies cover reasonable
living expenses. Be sure to keep all documentation for costs involved so that you
can be reimbursed.
7. Be reasonable. If your area has gone through a disaster, like a tornado, your claim
service will not be a prompt as you may expect.

8. Try to relax, and let us do our job. There is no one better than TyJax in a tough spot.
We have the knowledge and experience to help you through this tough time. Rest
assured we are working for YOU, not the insurance company. We will do everything
in our power as your designated contractor to make sure your properly represented.
9. We will work to clean up the mess, and get your life back to some sort of normal
A.S.A.P.
